For resilient and climate-fit vineyards: Living Vineyards on tour in Europe
Living Vineyards Tour. A climate protection initiative touring Europe.
In November, the Porto Protocol, a global initiative for climate protection in viticulture, will tour Europe with the Living Vineyards Tour. Extreme weather events, parched soils, dwindling biodiversity: more and more winegrowers are at a loss in their vineyards due to the effects of climate change — and are facing an uncertain future. How can they continue to work in a high-quality and sustainable way under these conditions? This is exactly where the
Living Vineyards Tour, running from 6 November to 1 December 2025, comes in: it supports, connects, and offers solutions. Each workshop will feature local producers, guest experts, and field demonstrations — making every encounter unique and highly practical. Among them are Jamie Goode, author and regenerative viticulture expert; Hans Reiner Schultz, President of Hochschule Geisenheim University in Germany; and Marta Cortegana, an expert in sustainable agriculture and territorial development.
“The Living Vineyards embodies what the Porto Protocol stands for — collaboration in action,” says Adrian Bridge, CEO of the Porto Protocol Foundation. “By bringing these discussions into the field, we’re turning shared knowledge into tangible impact.”
This “travelling community of practice” will visit seven European countries: Italy, Spain, Portugal, Great Britain, France, Germany, and Austria. Wine professionals, producers, changemakers, and members of the press are equally invited to take part in the all-day workshops and discussions. Registration via e-mail: info@portoprotocol.com
The tour will be led by Cristina Crava from the Porto Protocol and Kelly Mulville, Director of Viticulture at Paicines Ranch (California) and a pioneer in regenerative viticulture, who will travel to Europe to collaborate with fellow Living Vineyards members. Together, they will guide participants through practical field experiences exploring soil health, biodiversity, and whole-system vineyard design.
