porto protocol
In 2019, I first came into contact with the Porto Protocol Foundation at the Wine Sustainability Conference Climate Change Leadership Porto 2019, which made a deep impression on me. Shortly afterwards, I came on board as the representative for Austria.
Representative for Austria since 2019
The Porto Protocol Foundation was established in 2018 by
Taylor's Port. Its goal: to accelerate climate protection in the wine world. The network provides concrete solutions, promotes the exchange of practical knowledge and strengthens cooperation along the entire value chain. I have been a member of the network as Austria's representative since 2019, enjoying working on projects and supporting the core team – Marta Mendonça and Cristina Cravinho – with communications work.
Active worldwide. The Porto Protocol Foundation currently has over 250 members from all over the world, including research institutes such as the
University of Geisenheim in Germany, producers such as
Château Maris in France,
Spier Wine Farm in South Africa,
Emiliana Organic Vineyards in Chile and the European winegrowers' group
respekt-BIODYN, as well as companies and organisations from other areas of the wine supply chain. Regional representatives are in regular contact with the core team and contribute to various specialist areas.
Benefits for the wine industry. Through initiatives such as the ‘Living Vineyards Tour 2025’ and the ‘Unpacking Wine Guide’ published in 2024, the Porto Protocol empowers players in the wine world to take a leading role in sustainability. Interested sponsor partners are welcome.
