The Female Wine Collective was founded in 2023 by a small group of committed women in Vienna. The reason for this was that although more and more women are participating in shaping the wine industry, they are often ignored in many areas. Tasting panels with a quota woman, always the same male journalists in charge of the wine press and female winemakers still not at the tables of decision-makers. It was—and still is—about their visibility. Now the collective is celebrating its 3rd birthday on 8 March, International Women's Day.

The Female Wine Collective (FWC) is a loosely organised network of committed women from the Austrian wine world: female winemakers, journalists, communication experts, sommeliers and restaurateurs. Every three months, they come together for themed events and training sessions to exchange ideas and develop joint solutions to professional challenges — from job searches and staffing needs to short-term temporary help and assaults and insults in everyday working life. The aim is to support each other and strengthen the visibility of women in the industry in the long term. The FWC is now celebrating its third birthday.
Their festival on International Women's Day, which this year is on a Sunday, is open to everyone: women, men and children interested in wine, for whom a small tasting area will also be set up.
When & where: From 12.00 to 18.00 on 8 March, the SCHATZ IMHOF restaurant in Universitätsstraße in Vienna's 1st district will become the FRAU IMHOF. A fine line-up of female winegrowers will be presenting their wines on site. The afternoon will be accompanied by culinary delights from Kim Bechinger, while Kate La Boom & Deepanda will provide the perfect musical backdrop.
The winemakers on site:
Für den reibungslosen Ablauf sorgen Gastgeberin Martina Imhof und renommierte Sommeliéres: Mara Feißt (Café Azzurro), Rebecca Rosengren (Seekind Faak), Hannah Haselbauer (Bruder), Luisa Bernheimer (Schatz Imhof) and Franziska Ettmeier (Gault&Millau).
